Well, as some of you may or may not know, I was previously an airline pilot before I was laid off last year. This enabled me to travel the globe at my leisure for $0.00 round trip and typically first class. Those benefits were extended to us for 1 year and, this month marks that year. In “celebration” of my almost expired travel privileges I decided to venture out to Tokyo one more time to visit my friends there and relax in my own version of paradise.

This trip was a lot of fun, especially since now, thanks to my friend Chris (who runs the Hendane doujinshi/PC games booth at many anime cons), I have a good grasp on the daily beat in Tokyo. It’s no longer a panic about where to eat next or how to get to some places, or even where they’re hiding the good shops. I spent a huge amount of time on this trip with a friend I brought with me, chugging Chu-hi, and enjoying the views.

After YEARS of sitting idle on my shelf with only half the dvd’s, I am finally proud to say I finished Eureka 7! I finally got through all 50 episodes and now own all 12 dvd volumes, and another Eureka 7 T-shirt. I figured I’d write a bit about it since it was a great show and there is going to be a debut of the movie here in the US next month, perfect timing.

If you haven’t seen Eureka 7 already, just go buy it. It’s reached the level of dirt cheap for the individual DVD’s and a thinpack set is under $50 I think (just do some google-ing or go to Rightstuf.com…yes they get shameless plugs in most of entries). The show is set on a planet that is plagued with earthquakes, tremors, and weird landmass changes, as well as sparsely placed villages and tower cities. An anti-military group known as Gekkostate is causing havoc and eventually we figure out what all this means. High on the cool factor is “Lifting”, a sport similar to surfing, except on invisible waves in the air of a substance called Trapar. The rest of this is just gonna be how I felt about the show, so if you haven’t seen it and plan on it, this probably isn’t for you.

…or something like that. With my abundance of free time lately I was looking for something to do, or rather, some game to play that was deeper than Parappa the Rapper and a step above Battlefield. Well I finally completed my DVD set of Xenosaga the anime, and it motivated me to play the games again. Tallon has all 3 and I have never even finished the first one (I’m that guy who starts an epic RPG, logs 30 hours, and quits it right before the final boss fight). So I embarked on the journey 4000 years in the future once again and sat down to kick some Gnosis butt alongside KOS-MOS.

We Have a Pulse!

I figured I’d post up a hello and let you all know I’m still alive. I will hopefully be motivated to do some more writing soon! I have been to Japan since the last “10 Minutes in Japan” entry, and will be going again in a week or two.

I also had the pleasure of attending COMIC ONE – 3 at Tokyo Big Sight! It was so awesome, and referred to by my friends as “warm up” for whichever Comiket I end up going to some day. Despite it being “small” it was still crazy and I’ll post up some vids or something eventually. The amount of doujinshi I bought on that trip was absurd…haha. Shout out to the awesome guys at Hendane for showing me alot of fun in Japan and always being the best booth at the US con’s!

Well I figured I’d post my votes for the current round in the International Saimoe League. Enjoy! Disregard, apparently I saved the HTML code from my voting wrong…so instead, fan service.
