Hello thar! It’s been a while I know. I spent a couple weeks in Tokyo last month and have since been finding ways to raise some cash in hopes of returning for a bit in March. I still haven’t found a full time job yet, so you can imagine things have been a bit of a pain in the ass.

Tokyo was great as always. I don’t think there is a place on this planet that I’ve been yet that I feel as relaxed as I do when I’m in Japan. From Hakone to Asakusa, it doesn’t matter, I love it all! Maybe it’s the change in pace, or the overall wider range of respect the general public has. Anyway, sorry, this isn’t an emo blog, let’s talk about some anime shall we? I will be spoiling CLANNAD AFTER STORY, EF A TALE OF MELODIES, ALLISON AND LILLIA, and CODE GEASS.
SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD!

Nagisa is dead?! WTF! I went through a bottle of jack and a box of tissues with that one. I recently got my first US release of Clannad on DVD in the mail (ep 1-12 subs only). I was watching the first few episodes and knowing how things turn out makes it even more sad. Though I’d say that watching it again after knowing things also increases what you get out of it. You see a lot more of the foreshadowing and understand the meaning in more of what is being said. I still love After Story, and I think Ushio is really cute. I’m slightly pissed about Tomoya being an ass to her though, frustrating as hell. I’m sure he’ll come around.

I finally finished Allison and Lillia. It was a cute ending to a fun show, and of course a grand finale where Will and Allison get to be together again flying like they were as kids! Yay! I would have liked a little more delivery when it came to Lillia and Treiz’s romance but what can ya do.

I have also finished Ef-A tale of Melodies. I think between that and Clannad After Story I was about ready to an hero and jump off a cliff. The ending to Ef was beautiful as expected and really complimented the entire series. Why do all the girls I love die?? Goodbye Yuuko </3….That being said I decided to watch Ef-A tale of Memories again. This is mostly because I convinced one of my best friends to watch it, and as to remember things for conversation I took another look at it. I tell ya, that show still gets me every time. Chihiro is still number one on my list of tragic ef characters, though Yuuko is a close second.

So I did watch another “new to me” show. And I really never thought I’d say it. I watched both seasons of Code Geass – Lelouch of the Rebellion. Yes I know, the very same show I called code gay ass several times in past and refused to watch. Well, for Xmas my Mom picked me up some random manga (she basically chooses by what I don’t have on the shelf) and volume one of Geass happened to be one of them. I gave it a read and about 10 seconds after finishing volume one, proceeded to box torrent to download what I was sure would be something epic. And it pretty much is.

This is definitely one of my favorite semi-recent shows. A part of me is sad I didn’t get into it when it was new, but on the other hand, the ability to watch the entire show straight through was nice. The cliffhangers are ridiculously huge every other episode so I often stayed up till 3am and finished all 52 eps in just over 2 days. It caught me by surprise, but I really enjoyed the show. Sure CLAMP did the character design, but this is no cardcaptors. The CG and Mech designs don’t really ever get in the way or annoy, and it does have a gundam style “bad guys never die once” type of thing going on, but there is plenty of blood to make up for that. It only takes the show 15 minutes for people to be getting capped in the face and by the end of the first episode the bloodbath has already commenced.

Yeah ok, Lelouch can be a little flamboyant at times, but he is definitely gar in my book. The girls are all cute IMO, and the relationships between the characters are well built, though there are a million of them. Well, that’s one show I don’t want to spoil if you haven’t seen it. Well worth the watch and it’s all out so very easy to go at your own pace. Order of the Black Knights Cosplay plz.
That’s all I got for now. I’ll try to be more active in the near future. Hopefully there will be some anime soon that will spark my interests and motivate me! Otherwise I will continue plotting my next trip to Japan and looking for a new job…

Hmm I havent finished Ef yet, and I dropped Clannad awhile back. Not because it wasnt any good just had a hard time motivating myself to watch since I had already played the game. As for Geass I have mixed feelings. It was really entertaining and fun to watch as most shows by Sunrise are, but in the end it got a little to ridiculous for its own good. I did think that the last episode was really well done though.
Lelouch alive or dead? Personally I think dead but we will probably never know.
Oh and that first picture looks pretty. With all of your praises for Japan it makes me almost want to travel there.
I played the game and I still watch it anyway, Fuhrer ಠ3ಠ
Though I don’t exactly give as much of a shit as people who don’t know whats coming. Always knowing the ‘big twist’ thats coming kind of makes you a little less interested but it’s still nice to watch even though I can’t really care about what’s happening simply because I already KNOW what is going to.
Kind of like rewatching shows, it’s nice and all but knowing everything that is coming makes it a lot harder to get drawn in and give a shit when something ’surprising’ happens. Nagisa dying? I didn’t even get close to bawwwing because I’ve known about it since season 1, the next big thing coming? I don’t really care about that either, so it’s hard to get into it other than just to see it nicely animated and to have something to watch.
So I guess I understand, but I think in this case its nice seeing the things animated and whatnot so I watch anyway.
FUCK khal, i like JUST started watching clannad finally after like 2 years of putting it off. i really didnt think it would be the first 3 words of the spoiler XD but thats okay so far its been my least favorite of the KEY works. and the plot development is s0000par obvious >_>; im mostly still watching for the zettai ryouiki so far.
as for code geass meh…i couldnt be bothered to burn it to dvd when i had the chance even though i really liked the whole series.
rofl @ a bottle of jack XP
@Heavens : Sorry about that! I put like GIANT SPOILER WARNING. I suppose I didn’t say what anime I was about to spoil….FUCK lol sorry about that, next time I’ll be more careful…I’ll modify this entry too XD. Also Kyou is the Zettai Ryouiki master.
@Fuhrer : Sorry for the long wait for a response. Apparently my blog stopped telling me people commented so I thought nobody was reading the shit anyways haha…That picture is from Roppongi Hills looking out at Tokyo Tower. Beautiful spot at night. And I’d say there’s plenty of them in Japan. I can guarantee you wouldn’t be dissapointed if you went there and didn’t even have a chance to leave Tokyo. Actually I will be going back again once or twice between now and September.
@ TK : Derp.
lol no its not your fault i fear my curiosity would have gotten the better of me no matter what you had done. and yes kyou had to have been my favorite by far from the beginning almost nailing tomoya with that book XD
